Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
